First and foremost, I’m a songwriter. It’s my great passion.

As a songwriter, I’ve experienced seasons of “writer’s block”.

As I searched through my old songs and lyrics from years past, I saw that during those seemingly dry seasons I was letting some things distract me.

I had fallen into the trap of comparison.

I caught myself comparing my songs to others. I realized I was worried about what others thought. I allowed myself to feel “less than” because XYZ radio station won’t spin my record. And the list goes on, spiraling down into a dark, negative, isolated place where it is impossible for creativity to flourish.

What a realization!

I came out of that little experiment realizing my outlet is to write!

Whether my song is a hit or not is not the reason to write.

I’m a writer! My soul demands it. It’s how I survive as an artist.

Do I have to be reminded of that only when I see a royalty check from my distribution and publishers or can I just sit down and write without worry?

The answer is, of course I can, if I choose to.

Whether you are an artist or not, live life to the fullest, do what you do best and don’t let others bring you down!

I feel rejuvenated! Starting your day over isn’t a bad thing. It’s a must when you fall short of yourself.

You deserve the best! Now trust me and go get it!

Carpe Diem,

No matter what the weather is like outside, hold your head up high and breathe in the beauty!

The conditions of our lives are like the weather; at times it’s too cold, sometimes it rains and even pours, and at other times its just so hot!

Then comes those 72 degree, bright, shiny days, where it’s so beautiful outside you just drink life in. On those days it seems like nothing can knock you “off the beam” or steal your peace, joy and zeal for life!

No matter what the conditions of your life are, like the weather, they will change. This too shall pass.

Today, regardless of circumstance, let’s all choose to be in a good mood! Life can be wonderful when you choose for it to be that way. In fact, it’s freeing!

No matter how gloomy your life is right now, make the choice.

Thank God for another amazing day to breathe in the blessings he has given you and is laying before you.

Sometimes the blessings are not exactly what I want. I may not like it right then. But the cool thing is, in the end, I find out it was exactly what I needed all along!

Carpe Diem! ODAAT!

(Seize the day, one day at a time)

IMG_4694We recently received some touching feedback from a fan. It’s so important to use your gifts, talents and ambitions for the greater good–to add value to the lives of others. It’s easy for anyone to lose sight of why we do what we do. Let this encourage you to be selfless in your arena of life. You never know who is listening or who you are touching. And just in case no one has told you today–you are loved!

Good Afternoon,

A few months ago we were walking down Houston Street in Fort Worth and noticed the flier for you and Guthrie every third Wednesday at Mambo’s. Since we both have an appreciation for singer/songwriters and like to listen to live music, we tried it out. Needless to say, we liked it. And we’ve been to see the two of you when we can.

Last month my friend’s son passed away unexpectedly. While looking through his son’s phone at the pictures he had taken there were a couple of videos. One was the son talking to his 5 year old daughter, which was great because his voice was captured to listen to again and again.

The second video was you. I looked at the video and said, “That’s Rachel Stacy.”

It made us both smile. Something we had just discovered to be so great had also unknowingly been discovered by our friend’s son. He thought enough of you to video your performance and keep it on his phone.

Keep up the great job. You touch more people than you know.

Always remember to tell the people you love that you love them. You never know when it will be the last time.

IMG_1740Things have changed so much in my life both personally and professionally in just a short time. I’m on a new journey and I’ve learned so much!

One of the lessons I’ve learned is if I let people who promise me things and not follow through affect me, that is my choice.

Today, I CHOOSE to ACCEPT things the way they are and let things happen as they should–on God’s terms.

I have a lot of fun sharing the social media craze, “Throwback Thursday” (aka #tbt) with you guys every week!

This photo was taken at a “stop off” outdoor concert in Marion, IL, before we headed off to shows with ZZ Top and George Thorogood!

My career has been quite a journey!

Looking at some of my “old” band pictures made me reminisce.

I got to thinking, “Where am I now?”

When I first began my career I was told, “If you don’t always develop, and at least try and grow as an artist, then you’re not doing your job as an artist.”

Subtle sigh…

I love what I do.

Artists, we have to keep learning.

It never stops in our industry. Our fans expect it, so let’s give them what they love!

Thanks to all who stand by me in this journey and thanks to all who change my life everyday just by being there!
